Today was the first day of my online Unity certification program, so my updates might be a bit more infrequent than they’ve been lately. I’ll try to keep the updates flowing, but it might be situations where they all build up at once like today’s post. Hopefully that’s not the case, but… I’ll keep you posted regardless.
The Actual News:
Sorry for not updating the past week, but… actually, I HAVE been updating a lot! Actually, it’s been all “behind the scenes” stuff, but don’t worry, I’m here to help bring you up to speed.
The “Et Cetera” Part
This is gonna be just a quick notice, but while unpacking some of my stuff that has been left packed from the move, I rediscovered all of my Super Trainer Showdow materials. Updating everyone on the West Coast STS 2000 has been something that has been WAAAAY over due… so to remind myself of this, I added a new “Super Trainer Showdown” page to the sidebar under “Chronicle Report”. Right now there are only some pictures from the 2000 Pokémon Tour, but the overall goal is to talk about the entire STS as a concept, covering not just the first STS, but all four—both East and West Coast STSes. I even managed to find a bunch of pictures that other people have posted which I plan on adding to the page (once permission has been granted, of course). So stay tuned for that!
Oh! Also too: I rediscovered my STS award-winning Electabuzz “Create-A-Card” from way back when… I wonder if maybe I have something planned for it soon? You’ll just have to stick around to find out!
First Partner Packs
You always remember your first, don’t you?
…first starter Pokémon. We’re talking about Pokémon here.
So last week I got my hands on the first release of the First Partner Packs, which you can see my unpacking of it below:
But I wasn’t going to stick with just that… I ended up writing up a page about the entire “First Partner Pack” release, complete with pictures of the packs and cards, what they were based on, and their release date. There is also a bunch of other minor things which I cover on the page… but you’ll have to go to the page for the details.
Though, hey, I’ll give you a quick taste. First off, here’s the actual list of oversized cards being released, where they were being sourced from, and when you can expect to purchase them:
GEN | RELEASE MONTH | STARTERS | ||
8 — Galar | March 2021 | ZG Grookey | ZR Scorbunny | ZW Sobble |
7 — Alola | April 2021 | ZG Rowlet | ZR Litten | ZW Popplio |
6 — Kalos | May 2021 | ZG Chespin | ZR Fennekin | ZW Froakie |
5 — Unova | June 2021 | ZG Snivy | ZR Tepig | ZW Oshawott |
4 — Sinnoh | July 2021 | ZG Turtwig | ZR Chimchar | ZW Piplup |
3 — Hoenn | August 2021 | ZG Treecko | ZR Torchic | ZW Mudkip |
2 — Johto | September 2021 | ZG Chikorita | ZR Cyndaquil | ZW Totodile |
1 — Kanto | October 2021 | ZG Bulbasaur | ZR Charmander | ZW Squirtle |
Secondly, while the whole premise of the “First Partner Packs” was to re-release oversized versions of the very first releases of each Gen starter as they originally appeared… the idea of them being “as they originally appeared” isn’t quite true. That is to say, I spotted a few differences between the oversized cards being released and the cards they were based on… maybe you can see the differences too? Well, here are the Kanto starters:
And now the Hoenn starters:
See it? Yes? No? Maybe so?
Well, if you want the full story on what’s happening here, you’ll have to read it over on the First Partner Pack page!
General Mills Update
It looks like my page about the General Mills’ Pokémon 25 promotion is getting a few hits, so I thought I’d give it a quick update. Nothing much from what it was before, but I did clarify some vague info as well as added some scans of a box of Trix I bought which was part of the promotion. If I find boxes of Lucky Charms and/or Cocoa Puffs that is part of the promotion as well, then I’ll add scans to them too.
Penultimate McDonald’s Update
I had intended updated the McDonalds page… and also intended for it to be the FINAL update, but a minor mailing mishap has split this update into two. That is to say, since the McDonald’s promotion has now officially ended March 9th, I decided to scour eBay for whatever pieces of the promotion that I was missing. Well getting holos was a ridiculous joke ($75 for a holo Pikachu?!), but I was at least able to fill in the gaps in my collection of stickers and packs. Specifically, I was missing the “Light Black” and “Dark Green” packs, as well as the #4 pack vinyl stickers for Gens 4 and 8.
Well earlier today I got a notice saying that everything was delivered… but when I went to check, my “Light Black” pack went missing, and I got a Gen 3 sticker instead of the Gen 4 sticker. Bargh! So, I updated the page with what I could, as well as give everyone notice that this will be essentially the second-to-the-last update to my McDonald’s page… at least when it comes to cataloging the “toys” which came with it.
That said, I’m still working on the fake card revisions of the McDonald’s promo… in fact, here’s a sneak preview of what’s the come!
You hyped?? I sure am! Afterall, this is what the cards were SUPPOSED to look like, instead of simply reprinting them as they originally looked (old card style and all). Yawn…!
…
Alrighty-o, that’s it for today. This was an update long overdue… but I have other updates still planned! Oh boy, I wonder what they could be! … actually if you’ve visited the site already, then you’ll know I have some more updates concerning Pokémon Legends Arceus as well as more Sinnohese, as well as a mysterious connection between it and another Pokémon languag that we might have already seen. Ooooohhhh!!
